The Blue Elephant – Artist Collective Statement
For more than 25 years, The Blue Elephant has been a creative home in the heart of downtown
Frederick, nurturing an eclectic community of artists working across disciplines, backgrounds,
and levels of experience. The studios bring together artists ranging from highly accomplished
professionals to passionate hobbyists and skilled craftspeople, united by a shared commitment to
making and exploring art.
Within The Blue Elephant, ceramic artists, glass sculptors, sculptors, painters, and drawers work
side by side, contributing to a dynamic environment where traditional techniques meet
experimental approaches. This diversity of media and perspective creates an atmosphere of
exchange, curiosity, and continual creative growth.
The Blue Elephant is more than a collection of studios—it is a living center for artistic practice,
mentorship, and discovery. Rooted in Frederick for a quarter century, it remains a place where
artists are encouraged to take risks, refine their skills, share knowledge, and contribute to a
vibrant local arts culture
