Introduction to Water Marbling

Service Description

Come join the fun and explore color. This class is an introduction to the ancient art form of water marbling. Water marbling uses surface tension to balance paint on the surface of thickened water. What to expect:  Class will be 2 hours.  I will share a brief explanation of marbling, its history and uses.  I guide you through the basics of water marbling paper. Included will be marbling prep work using carrageenan, alum, marbling tools and paint required, as well as after care.  We will experiment with a variety of patterns and paint applications.  During this session you will experiment with a variety of paper products.  Once comfortable with A4 paper, you will have the choice of marbling from a selection of things which may include gift card/tags, small canvas, folding paper or satin fan to build your allure, kraft paper covered journal to use to collect your thoughts, recipes or spells, or satin, wooden, ceramic objects.  Cost is $35.00 per person. Sign-up soon before classes fill up. *Comfortable clothing and an apron are recommended as we will get messy, and we will be using acrylic paint. Some items may require that you pick them up later after they dry. What you will need to bring to our workshop:  Pencil and notebook if you want to take notes.  Gloves if you are sensitive to acrylic paint or seaweed. You will get paint on your hands, but it will wash off easily.  A large plastic bag will be provided to lay your artwork on in your car on the way home.  Nonslip shoes are essential.
